Well halo my Slaying Gals!

First of all Happy New Year! Hope all of you had a lovely Festive season with family and loved ones. It's been a hot "minoto" since I've done a blog post. I'm feeling like a headless chicken, trying to balance work, blogging, marriage and motherhood. Never the less, I'm so glad to be back and excited for what 2018 has in store for me.

I've finally found a love for creating delicious and healthy recipes. Let me be honest, I wasn't a fan of cooking and baking. I only knew the recipes that my mom taught me to cook for all the "boerekos", or known as traditional South African dishes. Some of them are easy and healthy and, some are not as healthy. Listen, when I was a kid I could eat bread, burgers and cupcakes for days but, obviously I'm not 12 years old anymore. So I've been playing around with all healthy and wholefood ingredients and let me tell you, it wasn't always a success, but that's how we learn.

I'm still not a pro or an expert, just someone who found a love for whole, fresh, raw and organic foods. I've also been struggling with really bad gut problems but, that's a story for another day. I created my first Summer Smoothie Bowl, and girl my mind was blown. I actually felt so proud that it didn't taste like a hot mess. I literally just took some of the fruit I had in my fridge and added some of my super food ingredients that I use for my daily smoothies.

You don't have to go and buy the exact fruit and ingredients, just use what ever you have and be creative but, don't like me, try and use fruits that don't really go together. This smoothie bowl is so easy to make and very cheap.

Mango & Pineapple Summer Smoothie Bowl

This smoothie bowl is so sweet and refreshing, perfect for a hot summers day. It's quick and easy to create, and doesn't need a bunch of ingredients. You can create you're own version of this bowl.

I just used 3 fruits that I had in my fridge. I love buying in bulk these days to make sure that I have fruit in my fridge when the smoothie crave hits me. I bought a lot of pineapple and mango's that I kept in the fridge so that they don't go nasty in these hot summer days.

You only need 5 ingredients:

* 1 cup of frozen pineapple chunks

* 1 cup of frozen mango chunks

* 1 frozen banana

* Ice cubes (optional)

* 1/4 Almond on low fat milk (optional)

You can really add anything to your smoothie bowl, and just blend everything together until it's a creamy consistency and when you are happy with it. You don't have to use frozen fruit, I just like to buy my fruit to prepare and slice them for easy access when I make my smoothies and, they last longer. When the fruit are frozen it acts like ice cubes, so then you don't even have to add ice cubes. I also added some of my favorite super food ingredients.

These 3 ingredients I use on a daily basis in what ever I eat. My favorite place to shop all these ingredients is the amazing Faithful to Nature organic online store. This is heaven for me when I shop, all the products you need in one store. They have EVERYTHING!! From food to beauty, home and lifestyle it's an all rounder and you never have to leave your house. Below are some of my favorite products I used in my smoothie.

Chia Seeds:

These little babies are one of the highest plant base Omega 3 sources, and outperforming even Flax seeds. It's a great anti-inflammatory food, and the fiber gel soothes the digestive system (which I need a lot of)! It also helps to keep your body hydrated and balance the electrolytes. This is a staple ingredient in ALL my smoothies, and it doesn't taste like anything. The one I use is from Superfoods Organic Chia Seeds that I get online from Faithful to Nature.

Raw Honey:

O Honey! I just enjoy adding a little extra sweetness. I love the taste of raw honey. It's just not the same taste as the one that has been processed. It is a little bit pricey but, you only use a little. Honey is rich in antioxidant and is richer in protein than any other animal source and, I'm all about anti-inflammatory this month. The one I use is Antonia's Raw Local Honey from Faithful to Nature.

Granola:

I just love to add a little crunch to my smoothies, it just gives a extra little something. I usually buy one that is Gluten, Wheat, Sucrose and dairy free. I just try and stay away from all of those ingredients because it causes bloating an pain for me. I'm struggling with major IBS symptoms and I really want to try and heal my gut naturally. Viola!, you have summer in a bowl. You can alter this recipe just as you like it. Add any fresh fruit on top, sprinkle some coconut or even oats on top.

I really hope I inspired you guys to try out this yummy smoothie bowl or just even to try something healthier. I realized this year, now then ever, how important it is to feed your body with organic and wholesome food. I'm on a quest to change my lifestyle for good, not just to loose weight but, to be a healthier person in general because I've been going down hill these past 2 years. I'm so ready for change! I hope you guys enjoyed this post. Go check out the Faithful to Nature website, they really are amazing! There will be coming a lot more recipes your way.

Hope you all have a lovely day and keep on Slaying!
